Sign up on Spond 😁 Friday 6th May 2022 will be the 68th Anniversary of Sir Roger Bannister becoming an athletics legend with the first sub 4 minute mile ran that evening at Iffley Road track in Oxford in a time of 3 mins and 59.4 secs, at the time it was seen as a symbol of human achievement. Bannister was born, lived and ran in Harrow (Running track in Harrow Weald named after him) and to commemorate his achievement we thought the Metros could have a go at running/walking one mile (4 laps and 9 metres) on the Harrow School Track. All ages and abilities most welcome to run/walk, similar format to the track 5k if you can let us know on Spond your approx. 1 mile time ( if you haven't run a mile roughly divide your 5k time by 3 and take 20 secs off) we will arrange groups of runners/walkers based on their estimated time. We also plan to finish the evening off with some 400m relays and a 100m challenge.
