New to the website
11th March 2019
Check out our updated kit page – we have a new supplier for vests and teeshirts and on-line ordering is now open.
Also new to the website is the AED page which explains where the AED should be and has links to training videos.
19th February 2019
Metros at our best over the last few weeks – read about the successful AED appeal in “About Us”
We also had a really good event on Sunday at the Harrow Hill 10k (despite the falls), thanks to all the Metros members, families and friends who took the time out to organise and help at this event. Over £150 was raised just from tea, coffee and cake sales alone.
If you’re keen to do even more, couch to 5k is back and we’ll be looking for volunteers to support each session
Metros 5k is rescheduled to Saturday 23rd Feb
1st February 2019
The 5k planned for tomorrow, Saturday 2nd February, has been postponed due to the likely conditions in Roxbourne Park. There will be a training session in the park instead at the usual time of 9am.
Running in the Dark
28th January 2019
The new last Thursday of the month “Dark Run” starts this Thursday 31st January. If tempted remember to check out the requirements for lights. All the details are on the training sessions page.
14th January 2019
It’s that time of year when full of resolution, we all enter lots of races. Before deciding your Spring schedule, check out the list of trophy races just published in the diary section. Provisional dates are also in now for the summer league.
There will be no training sessions on the next two Tuesdays (Xmas day and New Year’s Day). But there are parkruns to keep you entertained on these dates. Come and join fellow Metros getting the new year off to a racing start by “doing the double” on New Year’s Day at Canons Park then Harrow. Not up to 10k then why not volunteer or come along and support?
For changes to other sessions over the Xmas period, see weekly updates page.
Wishing you all a very merry Xmas and a healthy new year.
5th December 2018
There’s a large agenda for tonight’s committee meeting including an update on kit. Any Metros member is welcome to come along – details in Metrolines.
Saturday 17th November, Gladstone Parkrun
We’ve been challenged again by Sudbury Court to an annual mob match but this time it’s at their home parkrun, Gladstone Park. Hope to see lots of Metros there on Saturday morning (there is still a session at Roxbourne Park as well).
Awards and Quiz night is on Friday 9th November
October 30th 2018
A reminder that the annual awards and quiz night is on Friday 9th at the Tennis Club in Eastcote. The quiz masters suggest revising the letter K for the music round.

The club marathon places were drawn after the Saturday session last week. Congratulations to Linda, Sarah, Gertrud and Noa. And for everyone doing marathon training, the Finchley 20 is now the Hillingdon 20 – check out their new route.
Club marathon place draw now open
October 10th 2018
Our club secretary Peter asks that anyone interested in entering the draw for the club marathon place contact him by October 21st. To be eligible you must be a paid up EA member and have a VLM 2019 rejection letter. Peter’s contact details can be found in the members’ section.
First TVXC, and our home fixture, is on October 7th
September 30th 2018
After a day of torrential rain, your thoughts will be turning to the joys of cross country.
There will be no disposable cups at this event – please bring your own cup for water & tea/coffee.
End of Summer

The Summer League is now over for another year. All the results are now in on the summer league website – please check your own results and let Pat or Irene know of any queries.
The last Metros event of the summer is the annual fun run on Saturday September 22nd. Pat needs volunteers, please get in touch if you can help.
Sunday 1st July in Dulwich
June 28th, 2018
The second summer league event is in Dulwich Park this Sunday. It’s also a trophy race. A group of Metros are travelling together by public transport leaving Harrrow at approx 7:30am, contact Dave Brown (or Editor) for details.
Results are in for Summer League today
June 17th, 2018
Provisional results are up on the summer league website for today’s fixture at Headstone Manor. Well done to everyone taking part – Metros are now in 3rd place overall. Thank you to Trish and Russ and all the volunteers for making it such a successful event. Thanks also to everyone for the home baking and contributions for the picnic, much appreciated.
Social Run on Sunday as part of Marathon Week
June 6th, 2018
We have 45 runners doing their Woods run on Sunday morning as part of marathon week. If you would like to join them, we are organising a social run for Metros members to start 5 minutes after them. The route is 10km (or 7.5k if you do just one lap in the woods). We’re also organising tea/coffee afterwards – bring a flask of hot water and some snacks if you’re able to stay afterwards. No need to let us know – just turn up in time to start at 9:35am (see Marathon Week page for location/map).
New Monday Evening Session
June 5th, 2018
A new session for all Metros starting every Monday from 18th June 2018 at 7pm
Meet Point: Corner of Duck In the Pond Pub HA3 6AA (same place Thursday winter session meet point)
These sessions are designed to work on Strength, Core and speed using a variety of different activities.
Volunteers are urgently needed for our summer league fixture on June 17th
May 31st, 2018
Although many of us are distracted by marathon week from 8th to 12th June, we must remember that we are hosting the summer league on Sunday June 17th at Headstone Manor. Trish urgently needs volunteers for all sorts of roles: marshalling, setting up, helping at finish funnel, moving equipment to/from the scout hut and of course baking (so we can put on a good spread). See volunteer section for contact information, and summer league page for details of where/when.
The first summer league event on June 3rd is at Perivale
May 12, 2018
ESM have rejoined the summer league and are jointly co-hosting the first event at Perivale (not at Gunnersbury Park as we originally thought). Start time is at 10am as club house is only open from 9am. Meeting place is in the park alongside the track (track is not used). See events page for more details.
