At Home Resources

April 2nd, by editor

With no date yet in sight when we’ll be able to restart sessions, we’ve put together a page of resources we’ve found that will help us keep fit and active during this difficult time.  It’s listed under training sessions.  Keep safe.

All sessions are suspended

March 16th, by editor

In the light of today’s government announcements, we believe we have no alternative but to cancel all Metros sessions with immediate effect.
We’ll update this site as soon as anything changes

Stay safe.

All sessions are running

March 10th, by editor

I’m sure everyone is keeping an eye on the news.  Unless we’re instructed otherwise, all our training sessions are going ahead. We’ll post an update if anything changes.

For members: renewals were due on 1st March.

Support your local race

January 23rd, by editor

Harrow Hill 10K is back on Sunday February 16th.  I hope as many of you as possible are taking part, either running or volunteering.  The proceeds go to a small local cause, the Harrow MS Therapy centre.  In the last two years we’ve managed to raise over £2,000 for them, let’s keep up the good work.

If you’re reluctant to attempt a hilly 10k, remember 8k is flat or downhill!  Hope to see you there.

Remember to check weekly updates

December 22nd, by editor

It’s that time of year where festivities get in the way of running.  Remember to check the weekly updates section for any changes to runs.  There are no formal sessions on 24th, 25th or 31st.  But there are local parkruns on 25th and 1st to look forward to.

Let the over-eating commence

December 12th, by editor

Mainly social events this month, but there’s the second of the 5k challenge runs on Saturday 21st at Sunny Hill parkrun.  For those of you who need to work off your Daisy’s dinner this weekend, there’s Wot no Watch at Roxbourne park on Saturday morning.  The final social event of the year is Xmas drinks hosted by the Rackhams, remember to rsvp to them.

Busy weekend on 15th and 16th

November 8th, by editor

Just a quick reminder that our revamped awards evening “Pizza and Prizes” is on Friday 15th at Lowlands Tennis Club.  The next day, Saturday 16th, is our annual mob match against Sudbury Court at Harrow parkrun.  both events promise to be great fun, hope to see lots of members there.  Remember, if you aren’t running for any reason at the moment, why not volunteer, your help will be hugely appreciated.

Kit ordering is now open

October 9th, by editor

Our second order wndow is open – see club kit page – prices have been discounted and delivery is due by Xmas – don’t miss out on this chance to get new kit.

Well done to everyone at the cross country – runners – marshals – cake bakers – swimmers.  As I was too busy saying “mind the log” to 370 people, I’ve not got any photos of the event – if you’ve got some especially of the river that you’re happy to see published, please get in touch

Cross Country Home fixture is on Sunday 6th October

September 27th, by editor

The weather has turned, it must be cross country season.  Plenty of rain is still forecast so the course should be nice and muddy, and the river a little more than a trickle.  Volunteers to marshal (and enjoy the spectacle) are still needed, please contact Kath, Angela or Marcus.  Barbara is also looking for donations for catering (sandwiches, cake etc).  See contacts or come along to Saturday metros session for more info.

September events need your support

August 23rd, by editor

There’s a lot happening in September to tempt you out after the holidays.  In place of the usual Saturday session, on Saturday 7th, there’s Metros own fun run; run 4k or 10k (or 2k for juniors).  The following weekend is Round Norfolk Relay – see the dedicated page for details about that.  And finally, Harrow’s own half marathon on Sunday 15th.  Metros marshal the area around Headstone manor (led by Paula) and we’re still short of marshals – please help if you can (details on volunteering page).

Summer League, Battersea, Sunday 11th

The last Summer League event of the season is at Battersea on Sunday.  Come along and help us get as many points as possible.  it’s a fun event, full details, see events page.

Two June events need your support

Saturday 22nd June is the last day of the Couch to 5K programme.  Our new runners will be doing their first parkrun at Harrow.  Please come along and support.  The next day, Sunday 23rd June is Metros home summer league fixture: please get involved, if not running, volunteers are needed (contact Emma) and food contributions (please bring these along on the day).

AGM is on Friday 17th May

Quick reminder that the AGM is on Friday at the tennis club in Eastcote.

All members welcome.

A few reminders

9th April 2019

Today is the last day to order new kit at the reduced price.

The Thursday session moves to its summer location, this week, meeting at Old Redding Car Park.

And finally, if you can please sponsor our marathon runners

New to the website

11th March 2019

Check out our updated kit page – we have a new supplier for vests and teeshirts and on-line ordering is now open.

Also new to the website is the AED page which explains where the AED should be and has links to training videos.

Well done

19th February 2019

Metros at our best over the last few weeks – read about the successful AED appeal in “About Us”

We also had a really good event on Sunday at the Harrow Hill 10k (despite the falls), thanks to all the Metros members, families and friends who took the time out to organise and help at this event.  Over £150 was raised just from tea, coffee and cake sales alone.

If you’re keen to do even more, couch to 5k is back and we’ll be looking for volunteers to support each session
