TVXC – Metros Fixture
by Editor | Jan 23, 2017 | Uncategorized | 0 comments
Start time: 11:00 a.m.
Metros fixture will be at Hillingdon House Farm Fields again this year, our base will be in Hillingdon Athletics Stadium (post code UB8 1ES) where there are changing rooms toilet facilities and refreshments. There is some parking there which is pay and display, there is also parking in the surrounding roads.
The nearest exit from the A40 is Swakleys roundabout, either the first exit and then first right down Warren Road, and there is a footpath over the A40 to Hillingdon House Farm Fields. The other option is the third exit off Swakleys roundabout (B483) there is a turn off to the left to the Stadium or going down Honeycroft Hill and parking around in the surrounding road, North Way is the way to the start, but there is no where to park along that road, where is also a way into the field from Sweetcroft Lane.
There are also car parks in Uxbridge if you do not mind about a 20 minute walk.
The course will be slightly different from last year, it will still be three laps, with the first lap is the longest, the second will go over the old ski slope by a different route and also come through the woods by another path, and the third lap will also be changed. The second and third go through the River Pinn, for those runners who really do not wish to go through the Pinn there is an alternative route, but slightly longer.
The course is suitable for spikes.
Please remove muddy footwear before entering the Stadium.
Entries are now open! Click on the link below to find out all the details and how to enter. Hope to see you there!
parkrun Mob Match
A fantastic turnout from both Metros and Sudbury Court for our mob match this year! Well done to everyone who took part. We’re looking forward to the next one!
Average Age Grading Results:
Sudbury Court: 57.06%
Full results can be found here.
London Marathon 2017
A reminder that this will be held on Saturday 1st October and I’m seeking volunteers to help on the morning. It would be most useful to be able to allocate tasks to volunteers prior to the day and, as there are separate runs, it’s possible to help and run if not running the 10K. Help is needed to:
8.00 am – set up the course
8.30 am – set up registration
8.45 am – register runners.
9.15 am – START – Help to record results at finish funnel and registration, two marshals.
Please register and collect a number early to allow a prompt start. The format is as usual –
4K, followed by second 4K, then 2K (all three runs total 10K), Fun Run under 7’s and 1K walk.
Any combination of distance run is acceptable ie 2k, 4k, 6k, 8k, 10k.
The adult awards this year will be age graded, one award for man and woman in the 10K, 4K and 2K. One award only to any runner.
Junior awards for the first boy and girl under 11 in the 2k, and 11-14 in the 4K, plus medals for 2nd and 3rd.
The presentation of awards will be held in the Scout Hall on 8th October, therefore the Scout Hall will not be open prior to or after the Fun Run on 1st October. We will have use of the pavilion toilets again.
This is the longest established Metros event and it’s hoped to again have a good turnout from Metros members, friends and families.
IMPORTANT – Changes to Saturday Metros sessions
– Encourage those who do occasional parkruns to do them on the same Saturday
– Make it easier to remember which type of session is on which week
– Re-introduce the walk but with a route that can be achieved within the hour
There will still be a session at Roxbourne park every week. The changes start on October 15th and line up with the new award season.
We’ve been invited by Sudbury Court RC to do a return parkrun mob match at Harrow parkrun on October 15th. This will be the first event in the new timetable
Revised Dates (older versions of Metrolines will be wrong)
15th – NEW! Mob match at Harrow parkrun (or moderate session at Roxbourne Park)
